BIOGRAPHY
I’m Greg Hudson. I’m a designer and sometimes a photographer.
I graduated from Ball State University in December 2011 with a bachelor’s in journalism graphics–editorial design, layout, and illustration. Before that, I was a photojournalism major. I fell out of love with photojournalism early on, preferring to shoot for hobby; graphics was something I was always interested in and just felt “right” once I chose it as my new major.
At Ball State, I worked as chief photographer and designer with the Ball State Daily News. I would step in as design/graphics editor when necessary. I also helped design spreads in Ball Bearings, the student-led magazine. I interned with the Ball State University Center for Business and Economic Research, where I created research briefs, designed logos for conferences, and created an identity for a newly-renovated public pool. During my senior year, I worked with Circle of Blue as part of an immersive learning experience where I researched, wrote, and designed static and animated infographics detailing water use in the Great Lakes region and China.
Upon graduating, I interned with the Walt Disney Company in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I opted to extend my internship to a full year and learned about printing techniques and processes. Among my duties were assisting with photo shoots, editorial design and layout, and creating print and digital collateral that would reach up to 100,000 employees at both the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida—sometimes reaching as far as Disneyland Paris.
As of March 2013, I am working with the National Wildlife Federation in Reston, Virginia as a senior designer for Ranger Rick magazine.
